一部で噂になっていたAMD Ryzen 7 CPUのコア/スレッドをWindows10 OSが正常に管理できていないのではないか?という疑問について、AMD公式ブログで同社による調査の結果、Windows10はAMD Ryzen 7のコア/スレッドを正常に管理できていると報告されました。
あとすでに浸透している情報かもしれませんがWindows10でRyzen 7 を使用する場合は電源設定をハイパフォーマンスにするようにと推奨されています。
Thread Scheduling
We have investigated reports allegingincorrect thread scheduling on the AMD Ryzen™ processor. Based on ourfindings, AMD believes that the Windows® 10 thread scheduler isoperating properly for “Zen,” and we do not presently believe there isan issue with the scheduler adversely utilizing the logical and physicalconfigurations of the architecture.
Asan extension of this investigation, we have also reviewed topology logsgenerated by the Sysinternals Coreinfo utility. We have determined thatan outdated version of the application was responsible for originatingthe incorrect topology data that has been widely reported in the media.Coreinfo v3.31 (or later) will produce the correct results.
Finally,we have reviewed the limited available evidence concerning performancedeltas between Windows® 7 and Windows® 10 on the AMD Ryzen™ CPU. We donot believe there is an issue with scheduling differences between thetwo versions of Windows. Any differences in performance can be morelikely attributed to software architecture differences between theseOSes.
Goingforward, our analysis highlights that there are many applications thatalready make good use of the cores and threads in Ryzen, and there areother applications that can better utilize the topology and capabilitiesof our new CPU with some targeted optimizations. These opportunitiesare already being actively worked via the AMD Ryzen™ dev kit programthat has sampled 300+ systems worldwide.
Aboveall, we would like to thank the community for their efforts tounderstand the Ryzen processor and reporting their findings. Thesoftware/hardware relationship is a complex one, with additional layersof nuance when preexisting software is exposed to an all-newarchitecture. We are already finding many small changes that can improvethe Ryzen performance in certain applications, and we are optimisticthat these will result in beneficial optimizations for current andfuture applications.
